There are two main ways of preparing for a talk:

  1. Event Organizers Give Me a Topic:

Sometimes those who prepare an event give me a topic or theme that they want me to speak about. I go before God in prayer, asking Him to show me what He wants me to say and the context in which I could say it. Then I search Scripture to determine what God’s Word says about that topic. In addition, I look for Bible stories that reflect how people or nations of the past dealt with that topic. In the process of doing all that, I often receive a sense of what God wants me to say to that particular group.

  1. God Gives Me a Topic:

When I ask God to reveal what He wants me to talk about, I expect Him to show me the topic. Sometimes He does that through circumstances I live through or things others say or do. Frequently the topic comes to me as I read and ponder Holy Scripture. Sometimes God reveals the topic as a word or phrase that I “hear” in my spirit.

Janice’s talks are inspirational and relevant to real life

All of us deal with interpersonal relationships. Often our lives are shaped by the people who were closest to us—parents, siblings, teachers, friends, neighbors, pastors, and employers. We flourish in an environment of love and acceptance. However, many of us bear the scars of rejection and abuse. If we make the decision to forgive, we can move into restoration and wholeness.

Our capacity to grow in holiness is tied to our growth in wholeness. As we learn to forgive and to love freely, we can release the hurts of the past and move into healing of body, mind, and spirit. When we allow God to assist us in that growth, He simultaneously assists us in our growth in holiness. In this way, God enables us to become the person we were created to be.

What I like about Janice is the genuineness that comes through when she's speaking. She's teaching, but it's more than that. There'a a sense of love -- love of God and love of neighbor -- which permeates everything she says.
